Hebrew JLD or YLD written as YELED
is found in the Northwest Semitic Vocables of Sivan
in Akkadian Texts written as
ia-la-di and ia-al-da
meaning "bear, to give birth, be created"
with "child" as a secondary meaning.

It is for this reason that JLD is also applied to animals
(Gen 30,39;31,8; Jer 14,5; 17,11), not just to people.

Even Moses uses JLD to ask whether he "created" his people
(Num 11, 12).

Jenni and Westermann cite the Hebrew form LEDA
"give birth to, create".

Comparables in Latvian and other Indo-European languages are:
Latvian IE-RAD-, IERADI,  RAD-, RADIT "created, born, relations"
German ART "species, kind".

LETTs or LATvians or LITHuanians
thus have adopted the name "created beings” for themselves.

But not just the Balts,
but also the Swedes and Norwegians
are called LATs
by the Lapps.

The English also have
LADs, LADies and LASSies.
