Mycenae and Crete

Recent work on temples in Mycenae
shows that these perhaps had astronomical orientations.

See for example the work of Victor Reijs at Mycenae
under his link Megalithic at the top right frame of that page. The structural triangles in walls are 72 degrees (our discovery) and correspond to one main angle of the pentagon used by the ancient Pythagoreans long before the era of Classical Greece.

Since Mycenaean art and tombs
have been found on Crete,
home of the ancient Greek script Linear B
as well as the Phaistos Disc deciphered on this site,
the Mycenaean culture is of great interest.

Reynold Higgins, in The Archaeology of Minoan Crete
(The Bodley Head Archaeologies, London, 1973)
refers to the Greek Mycenaens
as arriving at Knossos about 2450 BC,
one reason why the Phaistos Disc is surely ancient Greek.
Especially the so-called "beehive" tombs are of interest.
